Funding Scobie for the Shire
Mayoral candidate Graham Scobie will be funding his Council campaign totally from his own personal financial resources. He will not be seeking or accepting payments towards his campaign from any individual, group, business or political party. He will be spending up to a maximum of $10,000 on the following expenses:
Television advertising - $4,000
Radio advertising - $2,000
Print advertising - $1,000
Design and printing of flyers - $2,000
Petrol - $500
Posters, registrations, etc. - $500
He believes that this amount is sufficient to indicate that he is a serious candidate for Mayor without insulting the intelligence of the electors by trying to buy their votes through excessive advertising. He is comfortable relying on his record of community service in the Eurobodalla over the past 27 years as well as a strong campaign of door-knocking and letterboxing.

By revealing this campaign spending well before the election Mr Scobie is letting all electors know that decisions he will make as Mayor will not be influenced by any factor other than the benefit to the residents and ratepayers of the Eurobodalla Shire.
Mr Scobie derives his income from the following sources: Scentertainment which is the business that he founded almost a decade ago; his community email newsletter, the Moruya Voice; his band, Bushland Boogie and sales of his three albums By the Banks of the Billabong, 100 Years Australia and Aussie Gospel Bloke.
Although campaign funding declarations do not need to be lodged with the NSW Election Funding Authority until 12 Jan 2009 (under current legislation), Mr Scobie encourages all other candidates for Council and Mayor to reveal the extent and source of all their campaign funds prior to the local government elections on Saturday, 13 Sep 2008.
