SCOBIE LAUNCHES CAMPAIGN

Eurobodalla Shire Councillor Graham Scobie officially launched his campaign for Mayor at the Steampacket Hotel in Nelligen on Saturday, 2 Jun 2012. This will be the first of 14 drop-in sessions that Councillor Scobie will be holding every Saturday at 2pm right across the Shire leading up to the Council election on Saturday, 8 Sep.

At each meeting residents can discuss any Council issue of concern such as the LEP, rates, roads and finances. The venues and dates can be found at www.scobie.com.au where residents can also download Councillor Scobieís campaign flyer and view his vision for the Shire.

This will be the first social media campaign for Eurobodalla Shire Council with both facebook and twitter also being employed actively at GrahamWScobie to keep residents informed of campaign developments, Council meetings, workshops and policies on exhibition. Councillor Scobie was elected in September 2008 and has since worked solidly in six Council committees: Aboriginal Advisory, Disability Advisory, Landcare and Botanic Gardens as well as being Vice-Chairman of the South East Arts Board and Chairman of the Moruya Showground Management Committee.

Outside Council Graham Scobie has run two businesses - Scentertainment since 1999 and the weekly community email newsletter the Eurobodalla Voice since 2006. He has also been President of the Moruya Chamber of Commerce since 2006. He has been a resident of the Eurobodalla for 31 years and lives in Moruya with his wife, Michelle, and 3 sons.

Councillor Graham Scobie has maintained a strongly independent stand throughout his term on Council and has chosen the slogan Vision and Voice to typify the approach he will take as Mayor of the Eurobodalla. His vision can be viewed on his website or by phoning 44743981 or 0409 225957. It builds on the Eurobodalla2030 Plan which was approved by Council on Tuesday, 24 Apr and centres on healing a perceived rift between Council and the community.

Councillor Scobieís campaign will be funded only by his own personal financial resources. Anyone wishing to assist the Scobie team on election day can contact Graham Scobie by any of the above means or email.
